An issue revolving grinding

Hello,

Lately, I've noticed a bit of a power issue within the server. Whoever grinds the most, whoever spends the most time on the server, becomes considerably more powerful than those who just play casually. This has led to certain factions enforcing their own rule because no one else can stop them. And now, this faction, also known as the sith, can get even more powerful, as they raid Tython, win the raid as no one can beat them, get holocrons, level up more, and just rinse and repeat. I suggest some method to get rid of this rule of the most powerful, aka the people who grind the most on the server. I believe the admins should implement some kind of way where people become more powerful not based on playtime/grindtime, but rather another source. As stated before, if the way to gain power does not change, the sith will rule the server because it appears they have nothing better to do than grind. Any further comments on this thread are welcome, we must find a solution to this issue.

*Edit-
I would also like to point out the same thing could happen to any faction, not just the sith. Any faction who has members who spend every waking minute of their time grinding on the server could also create an incredible imbalance of power and imbalance of fun.

It is my personal belief that level should be largely irrelevant, and should only provide unique rolls to skills that cause status effects and what-not. I would greatly prefer that progression be tied to roleplay experience rather than player experience. Lingering on the server after hours just so you can soak up the whole force harmony thing puts a real bitter taste in my mouth, doubly because I am a non-force-sensitive user and thusly this harmony system is completely irrelevant and players chastise me for being a low level. My character has no need for lightsabers or the force. As GM, I'd like to discuss with the powers that be that we try and devise a new way of handling this issue, as it appears to be at the forefront of the Skorm Network's metagame. If I must, I will help write new .LUA or something, but we need to address this snowballing effect.

"I'm the monster? From a certain point of view, we're all monsters who feed on fear and coin. Just because you're not as big as me doesn't make you any less monstrous, kid."
I assume you're talking about myself, Lait and Icey (Among some others).
We stay on for around 12 -14 hours a day and grind our levels. There is some effort on our part.
The Jedi actually Won the last two raids.
Harmony no longer exists, Leveling also gets harder the higher you get.

he Is right. At there level is becomes way harder to level, it’s how the equation for leveling is written. To be fair, that’s how games work. Your not going to be given free handouts and expect to be good, you have to put time and effort in to get good at it, unless the game is p2w, which I know skorm would never do.

The gamemode was originally created to wring money from people. Grinding is instrumental in that tactic, which is why I want to remove it.

I’m currently tossing ideas to our amazing dev team to see if we can replace grinding with a capable-enough system that will reward roleplay as opposed to brainless grinding.

people should be rewarded for playing the game, not just half-afking and playing LoL while they grind.

Thats the philosophy I’m approaching this issue with. When there’ll be a change I’ll let ya know. Also, at that point, grinding will not be an optimal way of getting exp.

Not our fault we are grinders my guy.
